Terms of Use
Last updated: 29 August 2026
BPMN Builder is a free demo of a semantic BPMN 2.0 editor, run by one person as a side project. By using it you agree to what follows. It is short and says what it means.
1. What this is
A hosted demo, provided free of charge, with no service level, no support commitment, and no guarantee that it will exist tomorrow. It is not a commercial product and there is nothing to pay for. Features may change or be removed without notice.
The source code is public at
github.com/Perlitten/bpmn-builder under
the Business Source License 1.1: read it, run it, change it, and use it in your own
organisation — but do not offer it as a competing hosted or managed BPMN product or service.
Version 0.21.0 and later convert to GPL version 2 or later on 29 August 2030. The complete source
present at commit 3948a9f, including every release through version 0.20.0, was
released under Apache 2.0 and stays that way. BUSL restricts only changes first published after
that baseline. Apache 2.0 governs the baseline code, while BUSL-1.1 governs only the protected
post-baseline changes until their Change Date; these terms govern this hosted instance.
2. Who may use it
Anyone 16 or over with a Google account. You are responsible for anything done through your account.
3. Do not put confidential material here
This matters more than the rest of this page. Please do not upload, import, or type in:
- anything covered by an NDA, or your employer's confidential process documentation;
- personal data about other people — names of colleagues or customers, contact details, anything similar;
- credentials, keys, tokens, or internal hostnames;
- anything regulated, such as health or payment data.
Use synthetic or sanitised diagrams. If you use the AI Architect, the wording of your process steps is sent to an external AI provider — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what leaves. You are responsible for having the right to submit whatever you submit.
4. Acceptable use
Do not:
- attempt to access another user's diagrams or account;
- probe, load-test, scrape, or attack the service, or drive it through automated clients — if you want to test its limits, run your own copy from the repository, which is exactly why it is public;
- use it to store or distribute unlawful content;
- resell it or present it as your own hosted service.
Security research is welcome, but report it privately through SECURITY.md rather than testing against this instance and other people's data.
5. Your diagrams stay yours
You keep all rights to the content you create here. You grant only the permission needed to run the service: to store your diagrams, show them back to you, and — when you choose to use the AI Architect — pass the relevant part to the AI provider so it can answer. Nothing is used to train any model by this project, and nothing is published or shared with other users.
6. AI output and BPMN export come with no guarantee
The AI Architect produces suggestions from a language model. They can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable. Review everything it proposes. Nothing here is professional, legal, compliance, or business advice.
Likewise, exporting valid BPMN 2.0 XML does not mean the model will run unchanged in Camunda, Zeebe, Flowable, or any other engine. Engine compatibility depends on which elements and vendor extensions that engine supports.
7. Availability and your data
There is no uptime guarantee and no backup guarantee. The service may go offline permanently, and if it does, stored diagrams go with it. Export anything you would miss — BPMN, SVG, PNG, and PDF export are built into the editor.
I may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, or that is damaging the service for others. You can stop using it at any time, and can ask for your account and data to be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
8. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or business interruption arising from your use of this service. Since the service is free, any aggregate liability is limited to zero, except where the law does not allow such a limit — for example for death, personal injury, fraud, or gross negligence — and except for your non-waivable statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top changes with them, and the previous version stays in the public git history. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
11. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Cyprus, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection you have where you live.
